Investment-based Visas

Investment-based residence permits are classified into two main groups depending on the type of residence: Temporary or Permanent.

These types of residency depend on the investment made in the Republic of Panama. The foreigner must make an investment with funds coming from abroad. It is important that you have a bank account in a local bank(1) in your name where the funds intended for the investment will be received and that these come from a bank abroad; this is the basis of proof for these visas.

Agricultural Investor

» Temporary Residence Permit as Agricultural Investor.

Forestry Investor

» Temporary Residence Permit as a Forestry Investor.

Marrakech Agreement

This Visa allows the contractor to be the same owner of the company or venture.

» Foreigners hired by companies under the Marrakech Agreement.

Retired Rentista Residence Permit

Through the bank placement of fixed-term funds for 5 years at the National Bank of Panama, whose interest or income is at least US$ 850 per month.

Investor Residence Permit for Macro-Enterprise

Investment of US$ 160,000 or more in a company, generating at least 3 jobs for nationals. This visa grants a Provisional residency of 2 years and then allows for the application for Permanent Residency.​

Residence Permit for Financial Solvency in Real Estate

Real estate investment of at least $US300,000 in a property. The property, even if it is mortgaged, must have the minimum application amount for this visa paid, which is $US300,000. This visa grants a provisional residency of 2 years and then allows for the application for permanent residency.

Residence Permit for Solvency in Opening a Fixed-Term Deposit

Establishment of a time deposit of at least $US300,000 in a bank in the Republic of Panama. The deposit must be maintained for at least 2 years. This visa grants a Provisional residency of 2 years and then allows for the application for Permanent Residency.

​ Residence Permit for Financial Solvency in Mixed Investment

Combine the purchase of real estate with fixed-term deposits in a bank in the Republic of Panama. This visa grants a provisional residency of 2 years and then allows you to apply for permanent residency.

» Residence Permit for Economic Self-Sufficiency Reasons through Mixed Investment (Fixed-Term Deposit and Real Estate).

Qualified Investor Residence Permit 

This visa establishes several investment options starting from $US 500,000 through time deposits, investments in the Panama stock market, real estate investments, and mixed investments. This visa grants Permanent Residency 30 days after it has been applied for.
