Who can apply?

Foreigners with permanent residency in Panama who can prove ten (10) years of legal residence in the country.

Permanent Residents of any nationality who obtained their first provisional immigration resolution ten (10) years ago or more.

Individuals who entered the country as minors and have accumulated time of residence in Panama, including the period as minors.

On one's own account

Applies when the permanent resident with more than 10 years of immigration status generates income independently, without an employment relationship..

On behalf of others

Applies when the permanent resident maintains a dependent relationship through an employment contract with an employer, under dependency.

Documentary requirements (Type 1A)

Common requirements 

1. Affiliation document obtained after filling out the National Migrant Labor Registry.
2. Notarized power of attorney to a lawyer through which the migrant person authorizes them to represent them in the process.
3. Application for Work Permit, submitted through an attorney, specifying the type of permit and the social/labor grounds.
4. Certificate issued by the Servicio Nacional de Migración (SNM), where the immigration status of the applicant is recorded. It must be submitted with tax stamps of B/.8.00.
5. Legible copy of the general information of the valid passport, or online validation of the Unique Foreigners Registry (RUEX).
6. Copy of the processing card, provisional or permanent residence card issued by the SNM (or a copy of the permanent resident card issued by Tribunal Electoral).

Additionally, you must present

1. Certification that verifies the migratory movements during your residence in the country, demonstrating that you have not remained outside the national territory for more than 2 consecutive years.
2. At least one of the following: Employment Contract and Social Security Fund (CSS) Record · Applicant's Income Tax Return · Notice of Operations (in case of being the holder of the same).
