Family-based Residences or Family Reunification are based on the request made by a Panamanian Citizen or a Temporary or Permanent Resident for their immediate family: Spouse, unmarried children up to 25 years old, and parents, to obtain Residency in the Republic of Panama. For immigration purposes, family members are classified under the term dependents of the Applicant.

These visas are classified under the following rules:

1. Not all temporary visas allow for family inclusion. You should check if it is permitted. For example: The visa for educational purposes (students) does not allow dependents.
   
   
2. The inclusion of the family group can be done in the initial application under the condition of dependents or can be done after obtaining residency through a Family Reunification process.
   
   
3. All Panamanian Citizens and Permanent Residents can request to include their immediate family members in their application.
   
   
4. The inclusion of children is generally allowed up to 18 years of age, and it will be extended to 25 years as long as they are single and studying in the Republic of Panama.

All permanent residents with E- ID can apply for family reunification.

Reunification of Temporary Residents

The general rule is that all temporary residence visas allow for family reunification except for those that have expressly limited it.

The application is based on the marriage celebrated between a national and a foreigner.

This regrouping can only be requested when the child has turned 5 years old.
