Frequently Asked Questions
It is the legal pathway that allows foreigners with Permanent Residency in Panama to apply for residency permits for their immediate family members: spouse, children, and dependent parents. It is one of the most common immigration applications in the country and grants provisional residency to the approved dependents.
The requirements include: that the holder has approved permanent residency and has processed their E- card in Panama, valid passports for all dependents, apostilled birth or marriage certificates according to the relationship, apostilled criminal records for adults, and recent photographs.
They vary according to the relationship or immigration status of the applicant: first, the permanent resident reunification, which allows foreigners with permanent residency (E- card) to bring their dependent family members; second, the temporary resident reunification, available in most cases for those with temporary residency, except for some exceptions; third, the reunification by marriage to a Panamanian, aimed at foreigners legally married to a Panamanian citizen; and fourth, the reunification by Panamanian children, which applies to foreigners with Panamanian children, provided that the minor is at least 5 years old.

- 6A-1: if you are self-employed.
