Residence Permit under the 15% Regular Staff Quota

Obtain your residency through an employment contract with a Panamanian company that is looking to add foreign technical experts or trusted personnel to its team.

Panamanian companies may grant a residence permit to one (1) foreign technical expert or trusted employee for every fifteen (15) nationals.

The minimum monthly salary to apply for this Residency is $850 per month.
You can include your family members (spouse, children, and parents).
In 5 days you will receive your residence permit application - Final approval in 6 months maximum.
This residence grants you a work permit with the contracting company.

Who can apply?

Any foreigner who is sponsored by a Panamanian company under its payroll of regular employees as a technical expert or trusted personnel and earns a monthly salary equal to or greater than $850 per month.

[ Conditions for obtaining this visa ]

The foreigner must be hired by a Panamanian company with a payroll of at least 15 nationals. The Panamanian company must provide other documents for the residency application, such as proof of social security payments, the payroll of registered workers, and accrued wages.

A Visa for the Whole Family

Foreign employees who have been hired may include their spouse, children (under 25 years of age, unmarried, studying in Panama), and parents in their application.

An entry for Permanent Residency

With a Residence Permit as a regular employee under the 15% category, you will obtain provisional residence for two (2) years, and after this period has elapsed, you will be entitled to apply for permanent residence. Permanent residence is for an indefinite period.

Work Permit

This residence permit includes a work permit with the contracting company. It is valid for two years and renewable for three years. This work permit is a mandatory requirement.

Certified check for B/.800.00 payable to the National Immigration Service.

Employment contract endorsed by the Ministry of Labor.

Copy of the Company's Notice of Operation.
Simple copy of the company's Certificate of Good Standing issued by the Public Registry.
Work Permit.
Proof of affiliation with the Social Security Fund and a copy of your card.
National Revenue Service of the company.
In the case of dependents:
1. - Letter of Responsibility.
2. - Proof of kinship.
3. - Proof of address.
4. - Persons over 18 years of age must present a certificate of single status and certified academic qualifications.

¿Puedo incluir a mi grupo familiar en mi solicitud?

La ley de migración le permite incluir a su Cónyuge, Hijos menores de 25 años solteros (si son mayores de 18 y menores de 25 deben encontrarse cursando estudios en Panamá) y a sus padres en este Permiso de Residencia. La inclusión de su grupo familiar puede hacerla en el momento en que usted hace su petición o posteriormente sin límite de tiempo.

¿Qué implica la condición de experto o técnico en este Permiso de Residencia?

La condición de técnico o experto está referida a un personal especializado con una calificación extraordinaria. También entran en esta categoría el personal de confianza en sus funciones, por ejemplo: cargos de supervisores, encargados de áreas específicas.

¿Qué sucede si renuncia a la empresa o es despedido?

Su residencia se mantiene vigente por el tiempo que ha sido concedida (2 años) y podrá buscar otra empresa que lo contrate bajo la misma modalidad para poder aplicar a permanencia una vez que venza este plazo.

¿Puedo aplicar a esta Residencia con una oferta de empleo?

No puede. Es necesario tener un contrato de trabajo firmado y validado por el Ministerio del Trabajo
