Provisional Permit for Foreigners with Panamanian Children

This visa allows foreign parents with Panamanian children to establish legal residence in Panama, in order to facilitate family life and provide direct support to their Panamanian children.

  • Your Panamanian children must be at least 5 years old.
  • You must present a birth certificate from the National Civil Registry Office.
  • Provide a document proving your current address.
  • The minor must reside in the Republic of Panama.

Who can apply?

If you are a foreign parent of children born in Panama, this permit opens the door for you to live and actively participate in your children's lives, supporting their education and growth.

- Prove parentage by presenting a birth certificate.

- Verify that you have a permanent address in Panama.







A Visa for the Whole Family

This Residence Permit grants residence to parents and minor siblings who, through family reunification and as dependents, are included in the application process.

Work Permit

In addition to facilitating residency, this visa allows foreign parents to engage in paid work in Panama, granting them a work permit.

  1. Power of attorney (notarized) and application. The power of attorney must contain the name and nationality of the applicant's parents.
  2. Three (3) photographs.
  3. Duly certified copy of passport (notarized or authenticated as appropriate).
  4. Certificate of Criminal Record.
  5. Health Certificate.
  6. Certified check for B/.250.00 payable to the National Treasury.
  7. Certified check for B/.800.00 payable to the National Immigration Service.
  8. Affidavit of Personal Background Form.
  9. Letter of responsibility and repatriation of the resident or national (duly notarized).
  10. Birth certificate for Panamanian children issued by the National Civil Registry Office with its tax stamps for three balboas and 00/100 (B/.3.00).  
  11. Affidavit before a notary public by the minor's father or mother, stating that the applicant has fulfilled his or her duties as a good parent.
  12. Lease agreement, property title, copy of utility bill, or any other document proving the applicant's address.
  13. Notarized copy of the provisional resident migration card and, if you have a permanent resident card or ID card, it must be authenticated by the National Directorate of Identification of the Civil Registry of Panama.

La condiión filiatoria se establece con el niño, como madre o padre, sin considerar en nexo entre estos dos, por lo tanto, si se puede solicitar esta residencia sin que los padres estén casados o tengan algún otros vinculo legal.

La solvencia económica es un requisito si usted está incluyendo dependientes en su trámite.

¿Si mi hijo es menor de  5 años puedo aplicar?

NO puede aplicar. El derecho a solicitar este permiso de residencia se genera a partir de los cinco(5) años del menor, como lo establece la ley.
