Who can apply for this Visa?

Panamanian companies with at least 3 national employees and a maximum of 10 may sponsor a foreigner to obtain this Residence Permit.

[ Conditions to Obtain this Permit ]

The Panamanian company must have between 3 and 10 national employees earning at least the minimum wage. Only one foreigner is allowed per company, with a minimum salary of $1,000 per month.

This permit allows Panamanian companies to temporarily hire a foreign professional who brings specific skills.

Extendable Validity

The initial visa is for 1 year, but it can be renewed up to 4 more times, allowing for employment for up to 5 consecutive years.

Work Permit

This residence permit implies a work permit with the contracting company. The validity is for 1 year and is renewable annually. This work permit is mandatory.

Work Permit and copy of ID card.
Employment contract endorsed by the Ministry of Labor and Labor Development in favor of the interested party.
Letter of Employment on company letterhead, signed by the legal representative of the contracting company.
Copy of the Company's Operations Notice.
Copy of the certification from the Public Registry of the company.
National tax clearance certificate of the company.
Proof of affiliation to the Social Security Fund, with a copy of the card (on the first application)

Can I change the contracted foreigner during the validity period?

No, this permit is conditioned on the specific foreigner initially hired. It cannot be transferred to another professional. The company must initiate a new procedure.

What type of work can the hired foreigner perform?

Any technical, specialized, or high-level work that the company requires, as long as it is explicitly stated in the contract.

Can this permit be renewed beyond 5 years?

No, the Marrakech Agreement establishes a maximum of 5 years of employment for foreigners. After that period, it is not possible to continue renewing this permit.

Can dependents be included in this Residence Permit?

The applicant may include their spouse and children in this Permit.
